Whereas the Virtual Steamlands are in need of a forum featuring Notable Personages and Insightful Newcomers to debate the Issues of the Day in an entertaining, edifying, and mildly pugnacious manner, and
Whereas The Alexandrian Free Library is a well-known den of Bluestockings, Intellectuals, and other Geeky Folk;
Resolved: That the Alexandrian Free Library shall sponsor a Debating Society conducted in the tradition of the Oxford Union, to provide the citizens of Caledon, the Realm of the Roses, the Steamlands, and the Realms Beyond an opportunity to view and take part in spirited, civilized debate on controversial issues of the day, such as:
Resolved: That Second Life is superior to First Life.
Resolved: That the so-called Real World does not exist.
Resolved: That Furries have more fun.
Resolved: That Monarchy is a superior form of Government to Democracy for the Steamlands.
